Vivek Ramaswamy quits race
Vivek Ramaswamy has decided to withdraw from the presidential race following a disappointing outcome in the Iowa caucuses. Speaking to his supporters in Iowa, he acknowledged that the path to the presidency was challenging without undesirable events occurring in the country. vivek Ramaswamy not only announced his exit but also declared his endorsement of Donald Trump, with plans to actively campaign for the former president.
With Donald Trump securing a significant lead in Iowa, followed by Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley, Ramaswamy, finishing in fourth place, became the sole candidate to exit the race after the state’s first-in-the-nation vote. Expressing his commitment to the “America First” movement, he pledged to support Trump’s candidacy and revealed intentions to participate in a Trump campaign rally in New Hampshire.
A Harvard and Yale-educated entrepreneur of Indian descent, Ramaswamy entered politics after achieving success in the pharmaceutical industry. Despite never holding political office, his campaign faced controversies for endorsing conspiracy theories and proposing bold measures, such as ending birthright citizenship and affirmative action, along with the closure of various government agencies.
Positioning himself as an outsider aligned with Trump’s “America First” agenda, Ramaswamy struggled to gain significant support, particularly failing to divert attention from Trump. Prior to the Iowa caucus, Trump criticized Ramaswamy, branding him a “fraud” and warning Republicans that supporting him would favor the “other side.”
Despite Trump’s earlier praise for Ramaswamy, tensions escalated before Iowa, with Trump questioning the entrepreneur’s authenticity. Ramaswamy, however, remained a staunch supporter of Trump, defending his record on the campaign trail, even after the former president’s critical remarks. Notably, Ramaswamy had previously offered to pardon Trump from legal troubles if he were to win the presidency.
