Fast & Furious star Paul Walker killed in car crashFeatured Monday, December 2nd, 2013
Paul Walker, star of the action movie series Fast & Furious died in a car accident on Saturday when his friend crashed into a pole and tree in Santa Clarita, north of Los Angeles. The cherry-red Porsche Carrer they were in had burst into flames after the collision, and is said to have been driven by Walker’s friend Roger Rodas.
Walker, 40, and Roger Rodas, 38, had taken the Porsche GT for a ride after attending Walker’s charity known as Reach Out Worldwide. The two had been close friends and racing buddies for a number of years. Rodas was a former car racer and had also been Walker’s financial adviser. He was also CEO of Always Evolving, the car customization shop where the charity event of Reach Out Worldwide had been taking place. The event had been a fundraiser to support victims of Typhoon Haiyan that hit the Philippines.
Paul Walker had starred in five of the six Fast & Furious movies, popular for their fast cars and illegal street racing. His daughter Meadow, who is 15, is said to have recently moved to California to be closer to him.
Tributes and condolences for the star are flooding in on the internet and social media; from friends as well as fans.
“Brother I will miss you very much. I am absolutely speechless. Heaven has gained a new Angel. Rest in Peace,” said Vin Diesel, co-star of Fast and Furious on Twitter.
Universal Pictures, the company Fast & Furious had stated: “All of us at Universal are heartbroken. Paul was truly one of the most beloved and respected members of our studio family for 14 years, and this loss is devastating to us, to everyone involved with the Fast and Furious films, and to countless fans.”
